THE EMBRYOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION:
CELLS, BLOOD, AND FLUID MOVEMENTS

A 2-day (or 3-day) workshop in Dublin, Ireland

In the first few weeks of our embryological development in utero, there is an amazing amount of communication and coordination among our cells and fluids. This complex communication and growth starts to create our basic body plan and the beginnings of our body systems . . . before we have a nervous system.

In this two-day workshop we will explore the embryological origins of our body’s communication systems from a Body-Mind Centering perspective, starting with cellular communication. We’ll look at blood and the circulatory system as one of our first body-wide systems for communication and movement, and then the beginnings of the nervous system.

No previous experience with embryology or anatomy is necessary.

This workshop can be taken either as a two-day or a three-day event. The third day will be for those who wish to go a little deeper with this work and cannot be taken on its own i.e. attending the first two days is a pre-requisite for attending the third day. Please register accordingly.

YOGA ANATOMY & BMC:
THE EMBRYOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION:
CELLS, BLOOD, AND FLUID MOVEMENTS

A 2-day workshop in Bologna, Italy

Yoga Anatomy and BMC®
EMBRIOLOGIA E COMUNICAZIONE:
CELLULE, SANGUE E MOVIMENTI DEI FLUIDI
Workshop con AMY MATTHEWS
Bologna 28 – 29 Settembre

Amy Matthews è Certified Movement Analyst, insegnante certificata IDME E BMC®, Registered Somatic Therapist an Educator, e insegnante di Yoga.

THE SHOULDER GIRDLE:
DYNAMIC STABILITY AND INTEGRATED MOBILITY

A 3-hour workshop at Imago Yoga Lab, Cranston RI

How do I balance stability and mobility in my arms?
What’s the best way to organize my arms for weight-bearing?
Can I keep my shoulder joints safe in any asana?

In this workshop we will look at the structures of the shoulder girdle (bones, ligaments and muscles), and how these structures work together to give us the dynamic balance we need to both reach into space and bear weight on our hands and arms.

We will look at basic anatomy and kinesiology principles, and common patterns that can lead to pain and injury. There will be time to sense, embody and observe, and to discuss principles of alignment and therapeutic applications.

All levels of movement experience are welcome.

DEVELOPING PATTERNS:
DEVELOPMENTAL MOVEMENT AND THE FOUNDATIONS OF ASANA

A 4-workshop series at Yoga Shala of Portland

From the moment we arrive at our birth, we are learning to move – our experiences, body sensations, reflexes and integrative processes are continually creating patterns that help us find safety, comfort and curiosity.

This series of workshops, informed by a Body-Mind Centering® approach to developmental movement, will explore some of our earliest learning times in the context of our adult bodies: the developmental process of moving from birth to walking.

Each of the four workshops focuses on the movement patterns that typically develop in a particular period of our first year: Arriving to Midline (approx 0-3 months), Midline to Rolling (approx 4-6 months), Rolling to Crawling (approx 7-9 months) and Crawling to Walking (approx 10-12 months).

If you are interested in finding out what lies underneath your own movement choices and exploring ways to make different choices, come to one or all of these workshops. No previous experience with yoga or Body-Mind Centering is required.

Prices:

  • All 4 workshops including Friday night asana class: $845 (Early Bird)
  • Individual Workshops early bird (30 days prior to workshop) $240, afterward $305

L’ ALLINEAMENTO COME PROCESSO DINAMICO
(ALIGNMENT AS A DYNAMIC PROCESS)

A BMC & Yoga workshop in Milan, Italy

When we talk about alignment, we should ask what we are aligning ourselves with? Are we talking about an external shape? An internal sensation? A principle, or value?

Alignment is a dynamic state of shifting relationships in our body. If we let go of the idea that it is a fixed set of rules, we can find different ways to orient within our experience. Then we can explore questions about how embodying our anatomy and developmental process can support communication and relationship as foundations for alignment, and for change.

In this workshop we will explore alignment principles that might arise from body systems (like our bones, or fluids, or muscles) or from developmental movement, and apply those principles to movement and asana.

____
